Carnival Cruise Excursions

Will be going on a cruise with our teenagers this spring. Would like suggestions on cruise excursions or must sees in Cozumel, Belize, Grand Cayman , Isle of Roatan. We would also like to see a Mayan Ruin, however, it either takes a whole day to do a trip or seems like alot of money just to view it from a distance and not able to walk on it; any suggestions? Also, anyone gone on a Carnival Western Caribbean cruise? Would like tips or advice from past travellers. Thank you!

Not Carnival, but Celebrity. Grand Caymen is basically shopping and a beach - the standard touristy thing to do is Sting Ray City - sounds hokey, but it was incredibly cool to do. Bus-shuttle-boat. Then you walk in chest-high water on a sand bar and these huge stingrays swim around - you touch them, feed them. Our trip then included another stop to snorkle and then they dumped you at an overcrowded beach for more sun.

Went with our teenage dtr, husband and me. We all loved the stingrays and got some great photos. We did the excursion booked from ship - but there are private operators that cost a bit less.

Yes, Sting Ray City in Cayman!! This is a must when you go to Grand Cayman. Go with Capt. Marvin - not the ship's tour. He is a lot less than the ship and has fewer people on his tour. There is no beach in Belize unless you go by water taxi to a caye (island).
In Cozumel you can go to Chankanaub, a national park. Take a cab there then it cost to get in but haven't been there is in a while so don't know cost now. There is a beach, snorkling and you can swim with the dolphins or just watch this. the dolphin encounter is a wast of $$$$. you stand on a platform and a dolphin swims by so you can pet them. thats about all there is with this!
We LOVED the cave tubing with Reggie. WE had 8- the two of us, a family of 3 and the girl friends of guide and driver. This tour cost us $45@, ship's tours were from $89 to $94depending on which ship.
In Cozumel, and I think Belize, you can go to the ruins. In Cozumel you take the ferry to Playa Del Carmen. Then a long bus ride to the ruins. Do these tour WITH THE SHIP. Because of the distance you have to go. The ship will not leave if THEIR tour isn't back yet but they will if you're doing it on your own.
WE are snorklers so we like Tabyanna Beach in Roatan. We also have the cab take us there via the low, along the water road. This way you really see the native's homes which are right on the water etc. Your teens will enjoy these tour.
Also, go to cruisecritic.com. You can pull up info on these ports, find out about Capt. Marvin and ask any questions here. You can also email me directly, [email protected], subject cruising.

Sorry, didn't know I couldn't edit my post! The cave tubinbg is in Belize with Reggie. When I had last minute questions about the tour, Reggie actually called me on the phone to answer them! The ship's tour here had 30-40 people! And, we paid him when the tour was over. Email me for contacting Reggie.

NGail, I answered another poster here about Reggie in Belize -"tubing in Belize". I gave them info about Reggie and how to contact him. Someone else answered about Reggie. Check out that post.
