I am looking at the Carnival Cruise Contract in front of me and it states: "Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on Carnival's vessels for onboard consumption. Alcoholic beverages purchased in the vessel's gift shops or ashore cannot be consumed aboard the vessel and will be retained by Carnival until the end of the voyage. Guest who are celebrating a special occasion are permitted to bring fine wine or champagne (no other alcohol is permitted) at the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day only."

RCCL: "Royal Caribbean reserves the right to limit or refuse to allow alcoholic beverages to be brought aboard thership for consumption during the cruise vacation." It also states to refer to it's website for information. I am copying this from RCCL's TA Manual.

Here's another (Celebrity): "No alcoholic beverages may be purchased ashore for consumption on board."

That's it for now.

Paul

Paul,
When we cruised Carnival last year, I called them and they stated that we could bring ONE bottle for special occasion. (I have heard that others brought more.)Other times, I just pack a couple bottles of wine in my luggage and take my chances. BTW- if you're bringing Champagne, you won't need a corkscrew!

We brought beer and diet Coke on RCCL Caribbean cruises, but that was several years ago. The following is copied from RCCL's web site.

Guests who purchase liquor onboard a Royal Caribbean International vessel from one of our gifts shops, for in-cabin consumption, will be sold the liquor at an in-cabin consumption rate (non-duty free rate which is comparable to retail rates), which in turn can be taken immediately to their cabin.

If a guest decides that they would like to purchase duty free liquor from any of our gift shops, then they will pay the duty free price and their respective liquor purchase will be delivered to their stateroom on the last night of their voyage.

In addition, any liquor purchases that are made by a guest in a land based location, will be stored onboard when they enter the vessel, and will be delivered to their stateroom on the last night of their voyage.

For those guests who bring wine and champagne to celebrate a special occasion onboard, these products will be tagged and stored by our personnel, and delivered to the guest stateroom or their dining venue, as per their request. If these special wines or champagnes are consumed in our dining room or specialty restaurants, or in the Windjammer Cafe for casual dining, a corkage fee of $8 per bottle will apply.

When we cruised last October on Windsong (Windstar line) we bought duty-free bottles from the quay store in Istanbul, no problems bringing them on board. (Didn't "hide" it either.)

This summer we're cruising Alaska with Princess. What are their rules on this, or anyone's experience? Haven't seen Princess mentioned in this thread...
