I am thinking of booking a south pacific cruise on the Paul Gaugain for this summer.
They have a current promotion going on that offers 45% off for the one I want but I also notice that the ones early in the year show 59% off a lower cost. Should I buy now or wait to see if the discounts increase as the year moves along.
Buy now or wait for a Paul Gaugain Crusie in South Pacific?

I think you need to keep an eye on airfares. That's going to be a major factor in your decision. It's likely you are going more in the high season or that there is some particular reason the cruise you want is discounted less right now, so you can't expect a larger discount for a more popular week for whatever the reason.
While you may find some last-minute super-large discount, airfare to Tahiti is very expensive, so I'd research that first (unless you are planning to book air through the cruise line, in which case the cost is unlikely to change that much).
I agree with researching air fares. Use kayak.com for all options and you can even get daily or weekly price changes though rates,if they change, most often do so on Wed. i would call the cruise line directly to ask if the offering rate goes down for the same class of service wiould you receive a refund or at least shipboard credit. Shipboard credit is good enough if it also covers excursions. It was reported the cruise lines in general earn 22% of their profit from excursions and in these times of heavy discounting the % is probably higher, just a bit of trivia. That confirmed I find it best to book through a large cruise agent. I like Coastline advisors and ask for Ann S. they will conect you to her-she has a home office. Use my name if you wish. she has treated us well and many of our friends.
