Blount Small Ship Adventures

I am writing on behalf of two SIL's. I have never taken a cruise, but I am active on the New York and Europe boards and have never taken an extended tour.

Two SIL's were to take a boat ride up the Hudson, then the Erie Canal and onto Montreal. Due to Hurricane Irene, Blount changed the trip from a boat ride to a bus trip but still charged the full amount for a boat trip.

For various reasons they cannot and do not want to take a bus trip. The exorbitent travel insurance (which is another matter) allows them to apply their monies to a 2012 trip. Unfortunately one SIL has a previous committment for the dates of the scheduled 2012 trips and asked for the money to used for a 2013 trip, which Blount refuses to do.

Has anyone had experience with Blount?
Has anyone had a similiar situation?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

No clue about the operator Aduchamp

but if they paid with Credit Card

I might do a dispute MERCHANT REVERSAL

with their credit card company if bait and switched like this

I always get an immediate credit free investigation...

So 100% of my money back with shady operators like this.

Would dispute the insurance charges too they are bogus

I always get MONEY not credit for future travel.

Yet another scam...if all else fails threaten to sue

in small claims court that gets their attention.

Do it if they still jerk them off it is easy to do

Have gotten several judgements in my favor in the past.

Judges to not like out of state travel scammers.

Good luck!

Sadly in most cruise ship contracts it does allow them to bus
folks in dangerous weather so they may get nowhere but the
squeaky wheel ALWAYS gets the grease if there is any to get.

Credit Card dispute has always been easiest most effective

for me in past from personal experience.

Forgot one other thing write/contact

cntraveler.com Ombudsman if above fails

Frequently they induce insurance companies to pay

rather than face bad publicity.

In this months Conde Nast they got a traveler

who failed to mention his pre-existing condition(cancer)

to TravelGuard the priceline insurer had a flare

could not make his trip was denied wrote Ombudsman

got 100% of his money back finally even though pre-existing

was excluded by contract.

So squeak squeak squeak!

We crafted a highly amiable e-mail to Blount requesting the extension and the agreed. I guess my SIL got the wrong person the first time.
