Which do you prefer, do you see more of the islands when you stay in a hotel or if you do a hawaiian cruise?

We did a cruise specifically because we only wanted to unpack 1 x and get a chance to see the islands. We went in early to Honolulu and spent two nights there first. Now we have an idea of which islands we would consider returning to visit.
For Hawaii - I would do land. I would pick an island or 2 (at the most), and stay on the the Island. I would also never do a cruise in Tahiti, because actually staying on those islands is the most amazing thing - - -. But - for Alaska, cruising is the only way I'd go.......
I respectfully disagree completely about Tahiti. The cruise on the Paul Gauguin is incredible. Most of the islands are so close that essentially you are only cruising during the night and you have all day (and in the case of Bora Bora and Moorea) two days to explore each of the islands during the regular 7-day cruise. Of course there are longer cruises to choose from also. Furthermore, the food and service on the ship surpass those at almost any land resort and you don't have to pack and repack.
