Will be sailing out of Boston - each of 4 in our family will have smallish upright suitcase with wheels (we all have learned how to travel relatively light - finally!). If we don't want hassle of waiting for luggage or having to put luggage outside cabin the night before, can we just wheel it on ourselves? Realize they will x-ray, possibly inspect - just want to know if it is allowed.
Are you allowed to carry your own luggatge on/off cruise ships?

Yes, you can take your luggage on and off the ship..In Boston it will be x-rayed and any liquor will be confiscated. On return (from Bermuda I assume)as soon as the ship is cleared on Sunday morning and after you've had your breakfast I think you will be able to walk right off.You will have until 10:00 a.m. to leave the ship. Haven't learned to travel light even after all these years..lol
Thanks ParrotMom - have followed a number of your posts about this cruise - part of reason we are taking it (August). We wanted to go to Bermuda and after pricing hotels, meals, air - it was actually cheaper to do it this way for the 4 of us to do a cruise - especially since 18 year old son can get fed multiple times/day on board.
<In Boston it will be x-rayed and any liquor will be confiscated.>

Is this unique to Boston?
On Celebrity I carry 14 bottles of wine, carefully bubble wrapped, in my 22" roller carry-on. Never had a problem.
I did have my two bottles of wine confiscated about 10 years ago on a Carnival cruise.
Carnival allows wine but not hard liquor.
Cruising to Bermuda and this will be our 10th time(last year we tried it from NYC and ended up in Canada-Bermuda North) and Bermuda is very, very expensive.. NCL has the On shore cruising deal where they charge you $5.00 per day worth $25.00 each (a coupon) if you want to eat on shore in a whole list of restaurants for lunch. For $10.00the coupon is worth $50.00 each.. We love the days at sea ending in Bermuda on Tuesday a.m.... and being able to explore and then it leaves on Friday at 1:00 p.m. and then you wake up on Sunday morning to find yourself docked.. Yes. I have seen liquor confiscated before people board...especially those with coolers filled with beer.. If you put a suitcase through instead of carrying it on you should have no problem, if you wanted to put a special bottle of wine in..I noticed on the Sea last year they had a barbecue around the pool including ribs, etc. Of course there is the pizza and hot dog station too not to mention the luncheon buffet...
