We are interested if anyone has spend a night aboard the Queen Mary (the original) as a hotel the night prior to boarding a cruise ship. The Queen Mary is docked in Long Beach. We will be embarking on the Princess Diamond for the Mexican Riviera and will arrive one day earlier so we are considering spending the night on the Queen Mary. Someone informed us that they conduct early check-in for our Princess Cruise. Has anyone ever stayed on the Queen Mary that could share their experience with us? Was it old and musty? How was the dining?
Many thanks in advance.
Anyone stayed on Queen Mary 1 as pre-cruise hotel?

donna, I have not stayed overnight on the Queen Mary but have dined there. It was a fun evening of course, dinner was alright but not special. I do not even remember what we ate.
Personally I wouldn't especially want to stay overnight on her. Lets put it this way. Visited, walked around, went to the restaurant etc. but sure don't have any yearnings to go back again.
And I do love ships.
Donna,
We spent the night there about 8 years ago. Mattress was lumpy, uncomfortable, the room musty. Maybe it has been redone, but if not, I think you'e better off just visiting it and staying elsewhere. It is really interesting to explore, but I wouldn't stay there again.
