Are walking sticks necessary/helpful when you go on an Antarctica cruise (Going OAT/Grand Circle). I have seen some photos/videos and I see people with them.

I just returned from Antarctica. Some of the folks used walking sticks for the steeper hikes. They were also useful in those areas with fresh snow--you could step in some pretty deep snow holes. I traveled with Lindblad//National Geographic. They supplied walking sticks for all passengers.
You will have an amazing journey. Hopefully, you experience the "Drake Lake" during your crossing of the dreaded passage.
