Another cruiser killed in Antigua

A 30 yo American woman was killed couple of days ago. This follows a killing of a 38 yo Australian just a year or so ago in front of his gf and daughter and a young British couple on their honeymoon 2-3 years ago. Also few years ago 6 cruisers from Carnival ship were beaten by police after a dispute over a traffic accident. I believe Carnival is the first one to pull some ships out of there.

The other cruise lines are not pulling out yet but they are saying that the Antigua government must step up to the plate.

Tourism is the biggest industry on the small island and with 2-3 ships docking daily, dumping thousands of tourists that spend $$$, they need to realize it does not look good for them at the moment. It's also a very popular destination for beach vacations for Americans, Brits, Germans, Canadians, Italians, etc.....

First of all it's not "another" cruiser to be killed in Antigua. As far as I know, this is the first cruise-ship passenger to be killed in Antigua.

The incident with the Carnival passengers was not a few years ago, it was last year, and there was plenty of blame to go around, including from the passengers themselves. While the Antigua police and the taxi driver were pretty irresponsible in that incident, the passengers were disruptive and not angels themselves.

While I agree that Antigua has become less safe than it was in years past, it's hardly an epidemic of violence there. But you do have a point about the government needing to do something ... and not only on Antigua. It would be sad if all the cruise lines pulled out of Antigua as they did from St. Croix a few years ago, but sometimes that's what it takes to get some real change in a place.

Lets see what the investigation reveals b4 one implies it was an Antiguan who did this. I could be but also could be someone else like another passenger or crew.
