Alaska - one week in July (post cruise)

We're hiring a car post-cruise from Vancouver and I wondered if anyone had any tips on accommodations and itinery in Alaska. day one: Seward, day two: Kenai Peninsula: Homer? day three: to Anchorage, day four: Independence Mine, Takeetna; days five - seven: Denali and; day eight: Anchorage. I know about booking the shuttle bus in Denali but any tips on lodging generally through the trip in Denali, Anchorage and Kenai(eg cabins, hotels). There are four adults so around $100-150 per room or cabin (with private facilities) would be OK. Also is the Kenai area that good having been on a cruise already, isn't it meant to be v crowded? Is it worth going up to Fairbanks from Denali and then taking the "long" way back via Delta Junction rather than backtracking down the Glenn Highway. Which places are best for 4 July celebrations so I can plan my route accordingly? Thanks in advance.
PS I've posted this in the US forum also, in case anyway mentions this...
