Wyndham Morgan Bay- - - St. Lucia

Does anyone have any recommendations on the Wyndham Morgan Bay Resort in St. Lucia? Would you consider this a resort that caters specifically to the family vacation? My boyfriend and I are considering staying there in August. Is all-inclusive the best way to go when visiting St. Lucia?

I think on ST. LUCIA, all inclusive is a good choice, because there is not alot to offer outside the resort without traveling great distances each time. Resorts offer good variety (depending on where you choose to stay-Sandals has best variety due to there being 2 resorts 20 min apart, stay at one =play and eat at both for free.) Wyndham Morgan Bay has not got a very good beach-water is not clear. Rendezvous is couples only, as well as the Sandals resorts. I think Morgan Bay's is family, but depending on when you go, kids may be in school for the most part.
You really do not need an all-inclusive resort if you stay on the north end of St. Lucia. There are so many enticing restaurants in the Wyndham area! My husband and I were disappointed we had chosen the all-inclusive option during our trip.

Moreover, you might want to reconsider the Wyndham because there will be a lot of kids in August. Same with Club St. Lucia.

My husband and I spent our 25th wedding anniversary at Wyndham Morgan Bay in April, 1997. We were very pleased with the resort. It has two restaurants, lots of water sports, tennis, archery, good entertainment. We were very pleased with our stay there. In April there were families with children, they have a special children's program. I'm not sure how that will be in August. Hope this helps.
Hi, my boyfriend and I just got back from the Wyndham Morgan Bay on Tuesday. It was incredible!!! The hotel was absolutely terrific. Excellent food, open bar from 10 AM on, nice rooms, wonderful staff...I could go on and on. Although kids are alllowed, and there were some, there were not too many. I don't think St. Lucia is overly popular with families! The kids who were there were not a bother at all. There is a kids' program which I guess kept them busy! And the kids were never on the beach; if they were out it was in the pool. But seriously, this resort is beautiful and you can mingle with other guests or keep to yourself as you please. My boyfriend and I practically felt like we were at a couples-only resort!!! Lots of honeymooners. Beautiful grounds. And it was truly all-inclusive, no hidden costs at all. You'll love it......

But we made a few trips into town and toured the island so we didn't feel isolated and we definitely experienced St. Lucia--we met locals, saw everything, ate local foods, it was great!!!

Hi, Marcia

I got engaged at Wyndham March 1998. We loved it! The staff couldn't do enough for you. The food was excellent (we gained WAY too much weight). The beach is rather small, and the water isn't that aqua color you see at other Caribbean islands. This doesn't mean that the water is dirty. This is because there's so much activity in the water between the water sports and people in the water that the sand gets stirred up. (One of the staff people told me this.) But, the water was clean and nice and warm. The snorkeling was best done off-site, and this is easily arranged through the front desk. We weren't traveling with children, but we saw many people who did, and it's my understanding that they had a decent kids' program. All in all, we thought it was well worth the money. All-inclusive is definitey the way to go on St. Lucia. Good Luck!

Haven't stayed at Wyndham Morgan Bay, but I disagree about the all-inclusive option. My boyfriend and I were very glad that we did not do all-inclusive when we were in St. Lucia last fall. We stayed at Ladera, which is on a different part of the island, in the south near Soufriere. There were plenty of dining options in that area, and we were very glad that we had the option to try other places for lunches and dinners (breakfast was included at Ladera). If you have already paid the all-inclusive price, you are more likely to eat on-site all the time just because you've paid for it, and are less likely to try more of the local options. In addition, we both feel that with an all-inclusive, you are tempted to eat more than you would otherwise, because you feel like you've already paid for it so why not. You are also likely to miss out on the real "local" cuisine found in the smaller, family-run, "authentic" restaurants. Also, it is not that expensive to eat well on St. Lucia, so I didn't think that any of the all-inclusive rates we saw were that much of a bargain (we did a lot of research before we decided where we would stay). If we had done all-inclusive, we would have missed some amazing meals, some fun restaurants, and would have missed meeting some of the local residents that we really enjoyed. While we did eat several lunches and dinners at our own hotel and others in the area (Jalousie Hilton and Anse Chastanet), and enjoyed all of them a lot, the experiences we remember most were when we went off the beaten path and tried someplace our St. Lucian taxi driver recommended. Whichever way you choose, I hope you will get out and try some of the local fare. Have a great time -- we loved St. Lucia! (P.S. Dasheene restaurant at Ladera is excellent.)

You don't need to have an all inclusive option and I would advise you to avoid it if you can. There's so many places where you can eat and their grocery stores etc there is no need to get ripped off with an all inclusive booking at a hotel. The north side of the island has everything you need. All inclusive hotels are not good for St Lucia. So help support the small businesses on the island!

This thread is over 13 years old. The above post from today seems a little spam-y.
