I don't know what to do. There is a company, based in Sosua, Dominican Republic, whose offering me a job. I should translates and edit Web site contents from English to my native language. The good points are that there looking for German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese. Therefore, it will be a very young, international company. And the office is just 3 min from the beach. Some people tell me that these kind of internet companies are a hit and that I should quit my job to go there (I'm sure that if I had no job now, I would go immediately). But I don't know. Maybe this company will no longer exist in one year. What would you do in my place? Do you see yourself living in the Dominican Republic? Send me your answer by email...
Would you work in Dominican Republic?

Considering that Sousa is an attraction for german tourists consider that first..For the first time I saw native Dominicans treating tourists rudely..they thought they were Germans...If the contract isn't for over a year, maybe...just realize that they have problems with electricity, and many times it goes out....it's a poor country which is an understatement, but the Dominicans are wonderful..the ones we've met in several trips..including Sousa--many Europeans winter there...
Phil, it really depends on your age, responsibilities now and spirit of adventure. If you're young and have no responsibilities and can obtain a written guarantee from this company...why not? Check out the company thoroughly first. I'm sure they are not paying you in pesos, or are they?

If you're married and have dependents I would lean towards keeping your job.
All the information by P.M. is correct. The Dominican people are poor and simple but they have a warmth and carring that can only enrich your culture.
