Hi there, welcome to fodors.
What are you looking to get out of your trip? What activities interest you? Where are you flying from?
You question is way to broad - like saying your hungry and asking us what you should eat!!!!!
If you include the Bahamas there are literally hundreds of islands and 1,000's of resorts scattered throughout the Caribbean & Hawaii and each of them offer something different.
Tell us how old your daughter is (senior in high school, college or did you mean your celebrating her becoming a Senior Citizen???), when are you planning to travel, where you are traveling from, are you willing to take multiple flights/ferries to reach your destination or are you looking to get there non-stop from your nearest international gateway city, what do you like to do when on vacation, what types of activities interest you and your daughter, Do you want to stay at a large resort, small hotel or perhaps a bed & breakfast, what is your budget for accommodations (be specific, don't use terms like "affordable", "not too expensive" or "won't break the bank" as they are meaningless without a dollar point of reference), what type of island (small, large, flat, mountainous, lush, arid - you can't have everything) do you want to visit???
The more information you give us about your like/dislikes and what's in your mind's eye, the easier it will be for us to steer you in the right direction.
You need to do some basic research in order to begin narrowing your choices. Start by using the "Destination" link at the top of this page, click through to the "Caribbean" and also "Hawaii". Read the summaries of each island to pick two or three that most interest you. You can then use the "Search" feature to bring up hundreds of recent threads about those destinations. Scan through that material and select one destination to concentrate on for this trip. You can then come back and ask specific questions if you are still unsure about where to go.
Keep in mind that ever island has something different to offer, no two islands are exactly alike and no one island "has it all" - there's always something new to experience, which is why the experts on this and other travel forums keep coming back to the islands year after year.

Where are you starting from? If you are East Coast US then the Caribbean is a lot closer. West Coast US then Hawaii is closer. They are both wonderful places. Just very different.
