Starting to think about a winter ( Feb/March) Caribbean trip, which will basically be a 4 day weekend. Ideally we want somewhere where we don't have to rent a car to go out to dinner but not interested in an all inclusive. Casinos are a big plus but not essential. Of course we will spend time on the beach but what is important is that the water is warm enough to swim in it and I am less concerned about how white the sand is or how clear the water is as I find all beaches beautiful in their own way (especially in the Caribbean when it's 35 degrees at home!). Good restaurants are very important and we like to have the option of restaurants in various price ranges. For example we like $25 meals for two at a local no frills eatery but will spend $200 as well for a more upscale meal. For the hotel we would like to spend no more than $350-$400 per night but happy to spend less!

We have been to Aruba, St. Martin, San Juan and Bahamas. We would consider returning to San Juan or St. Martin as Condado and Grand Case both have a lot of what we are seeking, however, trying something new is appealing. Also, we only want direct flights from NYC.

Any suggestions?
