We are planning a last minute trip to one of the islands in the Caribbean, in mid-to-late August or early September. We have been to the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. However, we are afraid that we may encounter a lot of restaurants/hotels/places of interest/etc. closed because it is the low season. We are not sure which island to visit.
Any suggestions on an island that has great diving, nature, great beaches, night life where we will find most places, if all, open? We are two parents with a 23 year old male traveling with us. Thanks!!!
Where to stay in the low season

Although I've never been, and probably won't ever go, since I avoid beach vacations where there are high rise hotels, I'd look at Aruba. Mainly because it has less risk of a hurricane than the islands further north.
Conventional wisdom does suggest going as far south as possible, such as to Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, Barbados. You're not immune to hurricanes but the risk is definitely less. And those islands have a lower average rainfall than, say, Grenada, which is just as far south as Barbados but much more lush.
Bonaire has far and above the best diving of those locations but not so great beaches. I'd guess that of the southern islands that Curacao maximizes the great beaches AND great diving requirements over the others. Aruba will offer best nightlife AND best beaches.
betterbidding.com Westin St John best deals
vrbo.com there or maho.org will be busiest
Barbados Aruba for best weather will be pricier.
travelzoo.com good specials on the Fairmont in Barbados
almondresorts.com Hyatt Aruba my fav there...
Barbados and Curacao, may be worth looking at, however based on your criteria, I would lean more towards Curacao for best vacation.

I agree , Curacao would be a good choice. Diving is great and there are both hotels to stay at or you can rent a villa.
Piscadera bay area is good because there are 2 hotels , Marriot and Hilton as well as rental villas available. Its close to town ,about 10 min by car , and has a dive station around the corner.
My wife and I have a villa there ourselves.
This is an old post.
I wonder which destination the OP chose?
