Where to go - Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico or Cape Verde?

Hi

We are looking for book an all inclusive holiday in May/June time. We have been presented with a number of options, and wondered if anyone could advise which would suit us best?

We are late 20s, and going with another couple. We will probably spend the majority of the holiday at the resort, and enjoy nice food and drinks. However it would be nice to have the option to go out and about and see some local culture?

Thanks in advance

We have been to Mexico, Caribbean and West Coast, several times. We are returning to the Caribbean side in May. There are several nice AI resorts in the Riviera Maya area of Mexico and lots of things to see and do off property. Look at the Iberostar resorts in that area. 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen is several blocks of pedestrian walkway for restaurants, bars, shopping and entertainment.

I have been to the DR once a very long time ago. It's a great place to pick a nice AI resort and chill. Take resort booked excursions to see things off property.

Varadero in Cuba has a beautiful beach but going off property for local culture is difficult as nothing is nearby. Good food/drinks & Cuba doesn't go together either (at least not in the AIs) but it is certainly an experience I would not have missed. If you can combine with Havana, this could work. Bucket loads of local culture and surprisingly good private restaurants.

Never been to DR so cannot comment.

Mexico is easy to get out and about, you can rent a car or take excursions.

Never been to Cape Verde either but a friend of mine went for their honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed it, hotel and food was great, according to them. I would certainly check it out.
