Where to Fly in caribbean from Palm Beach or Ft Lauderdale?
I am flying from Toronto to Palm Beach International airport in March, 2012. I will be spending a week in the Palm Beach area. After that, I would like to fly from Palm Beach International airport to "someplace guaranteed warm" in the Caribbean where I will spend a week before flying back to Toronto from 'there", wherever "there" is.
Can you help me with this?
Where would you suggest?
I want a "beach holiday" at a very nice hotel on the beach.
Although I would prefer to fly from Palm Beach International I could make my way down to Ft Lauderdale airport if that would open up more options.
What do you think?

Actually, I think it is FLL and I do not think anyone would guarantee "warm" in the Bahamas in March but it depends on whether you are talking about air temps or water temps and what someone from Canada would consider "warm"- it is a relative term! The air temps are almost always warm/temperate but I live on the gulf coast of the US and I think water should be 80 degrees F or better to make me happy- have had 70-72 in April in the Bahamas at least once and it was very, very chilly to me- you can never know this far ahead of time.
I love the Bahamas Out Islands but I would look farther south in March. You need to elaborate on your "beach holiday on a nice beach" and say what you would like to do/expect to have- casinos? shopping? adventure exploring side trips? snorkel or scuba? just plain relaxing on a beach chair with a beautiful view? Do you need a 4-5 star hotel or are you happy with a nice small resort? Be more specific and you will get lots of hits. Blamona is an expert at many places and is a good resource for you.

There are no flights from Palm Beach Airport to the Caribbean so you'll have to adjust your plans.
"Guaranteed warm" in the Bahamas in March depends on YOUR definition of "warm".
Average temperatures in the Bahamas can vary a few degrees from the islands in the northern part of the chain vs. the southern part however during march you scan expect average daytime temps to be in the high 70's to low 80's F. Highest ever recorded temperature in March was probably about 85 F. and lowest ever recored was probably in the mid 60's F.
Blamona was referring to Fort Lauderdale but may have confused you by using the term FTT. She probably meant to type the airport code which is FLL.
There are a few flights from FLL each week that go to the Caribbean (Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Trinidad, and St. Martin) - go here for a list of airlines and the places they fly to from FLL:
http://www.broward.org/AIRPORT/FLIGH...Locations.aspx
You'll then have to check the airlines websites to see if their respective flights from FLL dovetail with your specific "travel days".
If you don't want to travel to any of the destinations listed your only option is to go to Miami Airport (MIA) which is about a 45 minute drive from Fort Lauderdale where you can easily get flights to every major Caribbean island.
FYI - the further south you go the warmer it will be. For instance islands in the southern Caribbean like Aruba, Curacao, St. Lucia will have average daytime temperatures in the mid to high 80's F., northern Caribbean islands such as St. Thomas, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Martin will have average daytime temperatures in the low to mid 80's F.
It's difficult to make recommendations for a specific island or hotel/resort without knowing your budget.

Thanks everybody.
I just want a great beach. Nothing else. And a 5 star hotel on that beach.
Sounds like I will have to fly out of MIA instead of FLL if I want southern Caribbean islands like Aruba.(which I do)

From central/southern Palm Beach County, you can get to MIA in only 60-75 min non-rush hours. From MIA you can get anywhere. Only guaranteed warm + warm enough water temps in March are from Puerto Rico on to the south and east. Many Brits and Canadians go to Barbados, where you can fly non-stop to BGI and back to YYZ. Wonderful island with something for everyone. I recently posted a trip report for Coral Reef Club, which is a 5-star resort. Also on www.tripadvisor.com with photos.
