Where do you eat with kids on Paradise Island?

We're leaving in a week to go to Paradise Island and will be staying at Comfort Inn & Suites. There will be 2 families traveling with a total of 6 children/all ages. Our continental breakfast is free at our Comfort Inn, but we need some suggestions for lunch & dinner. The kids are already asking for places they can get pizza! For dinner, we would consider a varied menu-but not Atlantis prices. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dominoes Pizza delivers to the room, or even the pool at CI. Robert

You will find a few restaurants on PI that will fit the bill, including the Atlantis and Hurricane Hole.

Downtown Nassau, the kids will love Conch Fritters, which is across the street from the British Colonial.

There are several fastish food places, including McDonalds right on Bay St and my favorite local lunch spot is Junkanoo Cafe. Great conch burgers and fritters. There's also the Poop Deck which is close to the PI bridge.

You shouldn't have a problem finding places to eat in the area that will give everyone a few choices.

Have a great time.

Murray's Deli at Atlantis is the best priced and best food on-site. Still not "cheap," but they do have kids meals that were reasonable and very good. There is an ice cream store right next door too! I'd bring pre-packaged lunch box type snacks and drinks to bring to the water slides each day. Just make sure they are individually wrapped for room storage (the climate of cu-ka-ra-chez, you know!)
Two families - six kids - They are going to have a blast!!!

In addition to those already mentioned.
On Paradise Island:
Hurricane Hole Shopping Center has The News Cafe for Lunch, as well as Green Parrot at the Marina behind it.

Blue Marlin has moderate prices for dinner as well as a native "fire/limbo" show for just $10pp. It's fun for the kids. Service is slow. So just go with the flow.

In Nassau:
Chinese at Double Dragon across the bridge is priced right.

A trip to Arawak Cay's FISH FRY is a treat, and economical. The fish fry is a little village of native restuarants featuring local foods, music and culture (as well as burgers).

For a fun nite out, check out Cafe Johnny Canoes at Cable beach. They have a band that will keep even the youngest kids rockin'. They also have Junkanoo on Friday nites . Fun for all and moderately priced.

Scuba girl.......what exactly is junkanoo at Johnny Canoe's? Do we need to make a reservation? Does the band you spoke of play every night...Junkanoo only on Friday eves....time?

Also, I think we would enjoy the show at the Blue Marlin. I can go with the flow with slow service but I read on another post that the food was really poor. True? Do you need reservations for this? Is the show just in the evenings or can you catch the show during lunch? What days/times is the show?

Thanks.

More ?s for scubagirl:

How do I go about getting to the Arawak Cay fish fry from Paradise Island?

I'm staying at Atantis 2 days and really don't plan to eat much there on site. So I'm also interested in places to eat within walking distance.

Junkanoo is a sort of loud parade, a mix of carnival and Bahamian music. The BIG Junkanoo is over the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Everyone plans their costumes all year long for the big event.

Junkanoo is also done on many of the out islands as a celebration of independence day (July 10) and other celebrations sort of as needed. lol.

Johnny Canoe's is a restaurant on Cable Beach and they do a Junkanoo weekly. The Marriott also has a Junkanoo for guests in the hotel, it's bright costumes, whistles and drumming. The kids will love it. Not sure of the days, you might want to check with the hotel.

Arawak Cay is between downtown Nassau and Cable Beach. At the Straw Market on Bay St. look for the #10 bus toward the east end of the island, and ask the driver to let you off at Arawak Cay, also across the street there is a beautiful botanical garden and a bit further up the street is the Ardastra Zoo and Gardens, a must see for the kids.

Hope this helps and have a GREAT time.

Tweedy.......thanks for the info. How would we get to Johnny Canoe's from Atlantis if we were go to Junkanoo on a Friday night? Is the only alternative in the evening hours a taxi? Would you sugguest a reservation made prior to our arrival? About what would a taxi ride like that cost? Does Junkanoo start at a particular time (like a dinner show) or are the festivities just throughout the whole evening...will catch some part of it if dining there on a Friday night? Where is the Marriott....on Paradise Island? Is their Junkanoo strictly for guests or open to the public in a restaurant?
Any info on the Blue Marlin food/show?

Thanks again!

I just returned from there for the mem weekend...

probably the best few are:
water's edge - atlantis, buffet but reasonable price for the island;

green parrot - outdoor, casual near the bridge... burgers, seafood, salads overlooking beautiful yatchs on the pier

columbus tavern - not a tavern at all! at paradise island marina club past ocean club, outdoor & casual dining overlooking the water and surrounded by beautiful big yatchs

bamboo shack - for some local conch or chicken food & fries, one of the best on the island

then there are the golden arches (mcdonalds), wendys, kfc somewhere in the island.

Have a great time!

And don't forget Sbarro's on Bay Street. Get off the ferry dock by the straw market and walk a short way up Bay Street down from the BC and straw mearket area. Will be on the right hand side; great cafeteria style with huge helpings served for moderate price. Robet

Junkanoo at Johnny Canoes is a tasting of the local bands which compete around the holidays. It's part of the culture of the islands. The Junkanoo band Rushes (marches) thru the restaurant several times each evening during the bands break. Johnny Canoes has it only on Friday evenings off season, (sometimes more when the season is high). Give them a call for their schedule. The band plays most nites 8-12(not sure about Mon/Tues off season)
As for reservations, Johnny Canoes does NOT take reservations, and you will need to take a cab for dinner. It's worth it.

As for Blue Marlin, I've never had a bad meal there, but I have heard others complain. Yes, they have run out of cole slaw, or something else on the menu, but I've always had good food, (not fancy) and have taken family and friends their many times. My friend "Action" is the Limbo Dancer and loves to entertain the kids. You should make reservations, it fills up quickly. Show is at 8pm only. Nitely except Mondays??

For Arawak Cay, you can take the ferryboat to Nassau during the day, and either walk past the British Colonial and go west along the water for 1 miles to Arawak Cay or take a jitney or cab. The walk is quite easy, unless you're kids are too small. At nite, you'll have to take a cab. The last Ferry back to Paradise Island is at 6pm.

As for Kings and Knights well, it's an interesting show. Good fun, very native. It's a little limbo, native fire dancers/ drumbeat/ culture/ stories.
