If you're on Tortola, it's pretty easy to get to - paved road. Also, lots of people arrive by boat.

Very picturesque; lined with palm trees,
modest hotels, bars, etc.; surrounded by steep hills.

Compared to some other beaches in the BVI and USVI, the water is a little bit rougher and less clear, but it's a very pretty place.

Might want to check some of the recent articles on line at the BVI Beacon about the water conditions at CGB. Lots of boats moor there. Not hard to get to but my choice would be Smugglers or Brewers which are a bit harder to get to but don't get the number of boats.

Cane Garden Bay, Tortola or White Bay, Jost Van Dyke are our favorite beaches in the BVI's. Cane Garden is definitely a boat destination, but that adds fun with the crowd. There are a lot of restaurants/bars on the beach and you can stroll back and forth. Cane Garden is on the north side of Tortola and the prevailing winds in the winter frequently make it rougher. Other times of the year should be calmer.

White Bay has the Soggy Dollar Bar and is much more remote. Jost Van Dyke is a place to get away from the world.

Cane Garden Bay - is said to be on par with Megans Bay is St. Thamas (Frommers Guide and Fodors Guide). Let me note, thats saying a lot!

I have been all over the Caribbean (except the BVI), and I love to swim, admire and photogragh great beaches. Megans Bay is easily in the top ten - PERIOD! It has chrystal clear water, super calm, very long, blinding white sands, panaramic views of two enclosed peninsulas forming a huge horseshoe bay. Most people claim it is crowded, but I love the action and the vibes. Plus it has great facilities like showers, gift shop and a bar!
