Westin rooms
I can't decide which Westin St. John rooms to stay in--the hillside gardenview room or the studio villa. They are essentially the same price (I got a bargain). The studio villa is a lot larger than the gardenview room, but I'm concerned about the long distance it takes to the main hotel. Anyone ever stay there and have any knowledge about the distance from the main hotel to the villas?

I would say it's a 10 minute walk if you are in the upper hillside units, give or take a few minutes depending on how fast you walk. We had a Jeep so we normally drove as the hill to the upper villas is quite steep. You can also use the shuttle (golf carts) the Westin offers, it normally stops every 15 mintues. We stayed in both a gardenview room and a studio villa in Nov. 2002. The studio wasn't much larger than the room. I thought the room was very large with a lot of open spaces, while the studio used the space more efficiently by fitting in a small living room, dining area, and kitchen.

Is it me, or has there been a rash or people (or maybe one person) asking about the Westin Rio Mar? It sounds like the most indecisive people imaginable.

Final answer: the Westin is a perfectly good resort.

If you're still so unsure, don't go.

I have never encountered such rude people on a travel message board before. Thank you Mary for sticking up for me! As for "xxx", the post referring to the Westin St. John. The question as not--should I stay at the Westin St. John, but which room I should stay in. It's people like "xxx" that make life miserable for the rest of us.

Michele, Don't know if this will help but we stayed in a garden room at the Westin last September. It was very nice.
There is a gallery of the Westin on our website.
Click on the Westin Picture.
Bill
http://www.pbase.com/bill_l
