Weather in Barbados in Oct

I researched the weather in Barbados in Oct and found that this is the heaviest rain month. We want to go away in Oct and wonder if it would be a big mistake to go to Barbados at this time.
Does it pour day after day during rainy season? Or does it rain just part of the day and then sunshine again?
We can't change our time to go.

Ive been to bds three times in october and it's typical for the caribbean in that month. Unless there's a tropical system you should be fine with just the typical showers at night or brief during the day.

The only time ive seen it "pours day after day" in the caribbean is when there is a tropical wave or storm."

Peace, Greenie.

Yes, just to reiterate, the summer and fall are NOT the rainy season in the Caribbean. They are the hurricane season, and the relatively heavy rainfull amounts represent the rain from 1 or 2 tropical storms or hurricanes per month. If you don't have a hurricane or tropical storm, then the days are hot and sometimes humid, and rain is short and usually light, often in the late afternoon or at night.

Doug, thank you very much. What you said makes sense. When I saw the amount of rain, I thought it would be raining all the time. SO, all we have to do is avoid the hurricanes and tropical storms!!! Let's see if I can manage that! My mom always said the sun followed me on vacation...and that always seems to be the case. Let's hope it continues.

For what it's worth, Barbados isn't affected by major hurricanes as often as other islands because it's 100 miles further east. So when hurricanes pass over, they are usually just tropical storms and last a day or so and then gain strength later. That's what happened the summer of Katrina. One of the big storms passed directly over Barbados but was just a rainy tropical storm with some wind then. It only gained strength after entering the Gulf of Mexico.

We were in Barbados/Canouan Island for our honeymoon in the begining of december 2006. We were there for 10 days and it monsooned rained for 7 out of those 10 days. We were told that the weather was beautiful in October and November. So hopefully, you will have a repeat of last year!!
