Warm Honeymoon for a week?
I need suggestions for leaving on a Sun eve in early Oct and staying for only a week to a warm secluded beach resort that has water sports avail and not too far to local sites. We thought of Mexico's Hotelito Desconocido (closed for 2wks in Oct) or Mahauitas but flights from Newark only leave in AM. Any suggestions (not necessarily Caribbean) are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You will find that most flights to the caribbean and tropical destinations do leave in the morning. It might be a good idea to go ahead and stay in a hotel on the first night, then leave for the airport the following morning. Arriving on an unfamiliar island (especially if you go somwhere where they drive on the "wrong" side of the road!) is somwehat of an unnerving experience. (Been there, done that.) I'd much rather arrive in the daytime!

We are going to Anguilla in November. The above person is right. Most flights leave in the morning so you have most of the day on the island.

This is where we are staying.
www.capjuluca.com

Anguilla is supose to be great! Do a search on this forum under Anguilla to see some good discussions.

I'd suggest Compas Point on Nassau would fit your requirements, small bungalows on the beach and it feels like a "family island", but it is easy to get to and there is lots to do on the island.

There is a great beach there and a very good restaurant.

Downtown there is lots of shopping and of course there are cruises, and swimming with dolphins and the Atlantis is a must see.

Have a wonderful time wherever you go and congratulations.

tweedy

I can second Cap Juluca - my daughter spent her honeymoon there and had nothing but incredible comments for Angullia and Cap Juluca - and she is quite picky, belive me. I know that it is one of the top resorts in the world, and I don't think you would be disappointed. Of course, it is in the Super-Luxury category, and priced accordingly, but for a honeymoon it is well worth the splurge. Good Luck and Congratulations. You can e-mail me if you would like to hear some more of the things my daughter said - it may be helpful to you.
