I believe the firewall on the hotel's end would need to be configured to allow you and your laptop a portal to your other end. Most likely impossible.
Your best bet is RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) through any live (hopefully broadband) internet access, if you are running Windows with Terminal Services. I can't help you if you are a Mac user. You need to make sure the computer on the other end is turned on before you leave or have someone turn it on for you.
It is a secure, fast connection in most situations.
