Vieques and Culebra
We are planning a trip to Puerto Rico the end of Jan. Would like to stay 2 nights in Old San Juan and then fly or take a ferry to Vieques for a week so. We also want to go to Culebra for a few days. However we dont know how to get from Vieques to Culebra. Does anyone know what kind of transportation is offered, if any? Not sure who I should contact. Would then fly back to SJ and then home. Any and all help would be most appreciated.

We just returned last Saturday from Puerto Rico. We stayed 3 days in Culebra. The only way to get back and forth is to fly from Fajardo to one of the islands,, then back to Farjardo, then take another flight to the other island. They used to be a ferry from island to island but it no longer exists. Hope this helps.

You can also ferry the same way...say you were in Vieques for a week, and wanted to check out Culebra for a day or 2, you need to ferry back to Fajardo to get a ferry to Culebra! Time consuming and have to plan the ferrys just right.
I think Air Flamenco also flys from VQS to Cul on demand, but not sure of the price.

In 2005, we used Isla Nena air to fly from Vieques to Culebra and then from Culebra to San Juan via a very quick drop in Fajardo. Isla Nena did a good job and the price was very reasonable. Can't remember what we paid but I'm sure the prices have changed since '05 so you'll have to check.

There are not ferries or scheduled flights between Culebra & Vieques. Having said that there is usually a 4 person min. to add a flight between the islands. The price is normally $25/pp one way, so if you are willing to pay for the extra seats (ie. 2 of you would pay $50/pp one way) we have had guests sucessfully fly this way.
