I am a vegetarian and will be in Anguilla on vacation with my non-vege husband in July. This is our first trip here...will I be able to find some vegetarian selections anywhere...any recommendations? Will be staying at Meads Bay (or possibly Shoal Bay East). Thanks...

If you eat fish then you won't have any problems at all finding something to eat. Most restaurant menus are heavily skewed to seafood. I know some of the restaurants offer a vegetarian selection and some have pasta. You might want to check on-line menus of restaurants before you get to the island so you're not driving around trying to find someplace you can eat.

Most restaurants on Anguilla are very accomodating and I'm sure that is you called a day in advance they would be happy to prepare a vegetarian dinner for you. Recommend Altamer, Bananas by the Sea, Barrel Stay, Trattoria Tratmonto, Blanchards and Koal Keel. Santorini at Cuisinart grown their own organic produce so that might work.

Thank you for the restaurant recommendations - that's what I wanted. No, I don't eat fish, but I usually can always find something to eat somewhere - salad, side vegetables, and almost every place has pasta in their kitchen! Thanks

I'm also a vegge that traveled to Anguilla last July. I too was concerned as I don't eat fish either and my husband is also non-vege. I was fine at practically every spot. We stayed at Cap Juluca and ate at Kemias, Pimms and George's...all great! They also offered a veggie burger on their room service menu. Blanchards, Olivers, Trattoria Tramonto, Bistro Phils, Mediterrano (at Cuisinart) and Tastys were no problem (some had better foods than others). Two cheap places that were fantastic were Picante (mexican) and Gwens. Gwens had an amazing veggie burger! The only place I ran into a bit of trouble was at Scilly Cay. It was great to visit...and I'm sure your husband will love their lunch; just be sure to eat a big breakfast before you go! Enjoy!
