VARADERO - SUPERCLUB

Jump to last reply

Does anyone have any info on Varadero, what to see and do in the town. How safe is it to walk around and explore? We are looking at staying at Superclubs Club Varadero next January - group of 10. Would the upgrade to a oceanview suite be worth it and how are the activities at the resort. A few of us in the group are NOT beach bums, have to make sure there's plenty for them to see and do. Thanks so much for any replys.

Well there were some messages posted here on that resort, but anyways i will tell you about the superclubs club varadero. The upgrade to the suite is worth it if an ocean view is really important to you. It is definitly nicer to hav a view of the ocan, the the gardenview syuites dont have such a nice view. This resort is very much recommended for couples >the time that i was there which was in the summer, the ratio of singles to couples was 10% to 90%. Hence, a single traveller who is going alone and is not interested in a relazing vacation might feel a little bit out of place, with all the coupliness around. Plus, couples do tend to stick to one another. I dont know that there is much besides beach related activities and the pool. I mean there are tennis courts and basketball, and a gym. The activities here did not seem as exciting as say other resorts that have a more heterogenous clientele. There are watersports, and scuba diving is included. THere is beach volleyball and some soccer. I mean since you are going in a group i am sure you will have fun, because the facilities are there, it is just that you have to make it happen yourself. So i would reccomend this hotel to you, and i dont think it will be a problem since you are going with a bunch of people. I would be more concerned if you were just a single, then i would reccomend you to avoid adults only resorts as they tend to be very couply.

I think in the end it pays off to go to Superclubs Club Varadero, despite its atmosphere being more grown up and couply, because there is still things to do and th quality of the service, food and accomodations is higher than at other resorts. In the week that i was there was like a Cuban party besides the beach bar which happens to be in front of the casual informal grill, and there is volleyball, and all sorts of games by the pool. I think there was bingo. somehow, i did not think that it was a very exciting resort, and that the activities were very exciting. I mean the nightly shows take place at the buffet restaurant from 9:30 to like 10:30pm. The shows are good, but unless you are eating at that time or unless you want to go back to the restaurant and have a seat, you are going to miss it. There is also a piano bar which seemed to be the place where most people lounged. The disco was good, however, there was not many people there, and usually older people who cant dance, so not a very young crowd here. mostly couples in their 30s to 40s, some late 20s, but very couply. The disco closes at 4:00am, but its empty by 2:00am. I reccomend that you go to "la bamba", located next door at the Tuxpan.they allow tourists from other resorts to go there, and you pay 10 dollards to enter, which included drinks inside. This is where the action takes place, usually jammed packed until 3:00 am when it closes. The music is hot, and the people fun, maybe a younger crowd, but mixed. The place is happening, however, it is hard to get any drinks , despite the fact that they are included in the 10 dollards price, since there is only a bar, and there is a lot of people that want drinks, so there is pushing there. but for the most part, unless you are an alcoholic, the place is great, fun, lively, exciting.it is really cool. another disco you might want to consider is "palacio de la Rumba" located at the Bella Costa, which is the sister hotel to the tuxpan. If you go as a group and share the expenses, a taxi costs three dollards to take you there, however, you can walk, it is close, and varadero is extremely safe. Superclubs Club Varadero offers better food than other places, with a gala dinner on fridays(AT LEAST WHEN I WAS THERE) .tHE FOOD IS GENERALLY AMAZING, AND AT THE GALA DINNER there is classical music played. Generally there is a hotel band and a singer who plays live music. dance lessons are also given. There is other stuff to do in varadero, like swimming with dolphins, taking excursions(all of which are at extra charge). so there is lots to do. You can go to the travel and tours desk at the hotel and purchase an excursion. somehow, i guess you might have wanted to go somwwhere more active, i guess. CLUB MED VARADERO WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT. But, hey, there is lots do so you are all going to have an amzinng time. The facilities at Club Varadro are very confortable. you will love it

If you have time, and havent booked yet, i suggest you choose Club Med vaardero over the Superclubs Club Varadero. since club med is all about fun and activities

Thanks Les for all the info on Varadero
Superclub - it was very helpful. Our group is torn between Playa del Carmen and Cuba, we are looking into Club Med in Cuba - didn't know they had opened up a resort there.
