Im planning our 1-week honeymoon to St. John. There are so many things we would like to do while we are there, its hard to decide what we should do and what we are better off skipping, all while not forgetting about time to do absolutly nothing on the beach! Things we are interested in are:
-St. Thomas Skyride
-SCUBA diving tour
-Swimming with dolphins in BVI
-Kayaking tour
-Parasailing
-Snorkeling (on our own or a tour)
-Hiking in the National park on our own
-Sail boat charter
-Coral world on St. Thomas

What do you suggest we do/skip, and should we do it on our own or with a tour?

Don't forget The Baths in Virgin Gorda!! Some of the things on your list I haven't done, however I would definitely do a day sail trip as well

This is quite an ambitious list! We leave soon on our fifth trip to St. John and I've only done three things on this list. Snorkeling, hiking and a sailboat charter. We stayed at Maho once and rented kayaks from them.

First I would not do things that you can do elsewhere, such as parasailing and the skyride.

Going to the BVI's generally takes all day, whatever your activity. Getting to St. Thomas from St. John will take up time as well. Once we are on St. John, we need a very compelling reason to return to St. Thomas.

I'm sure others will chime in, but I'd focus on the SCUBA (assuming that you are scuba divers), snorkeling, hiking (we enjoyed the reef bay hike w/a boat ride back to Cruz Bay) and perhaps a sailboat charter. Most of the boat charters have snorkeling stops. Even this is an ambitious list.

I would really consider doing a day trip to the BVI. There are a few powerboat tours that can get you to the Baths on Virgin Gorda, the caves at Norman Island (with or without a stop at the Willie T), and to either Soggy's or Foxy's on JVD on one day-trip. You will regret it if you are that close to Gorda and don't make it to the Baths.

Right - agree with jlbowers - the baths on Virgin Gorda. We are sailors, but because of the time involved to get to VG, we did do a power boat trip to the baths, lunch on a private island, snorkeling stop, then a stop at Jost Van Dyke. It was a fun trip. That was on our third trip.

This year I'm hoping that we get to snorkel at the Indians and the Caves, and I'm hoping for a ferry trip to JVD. Maybe, I'm not excited about paying the customs fees twice.

I would get up to date on passport laws. We have ours, so no worry there, but if you don't have yours, that could limit you.

And if you are divers, you will need to plan early in the week for diving the Rhone. Most of the operators around there want you to do a couple of dives earlier in the week for them to check you out before they will take you out to the wreck.

I would skip Coral World. It's great for the kids, but nothing special for adults. There'a nice kayaking outfit on St. Thomas in the east end that goes through the mangroves to the sea. Agreed on a BVI boating charter -- Virgin Gorda and White Bay, Jost Van Dyke.

congratulations on your wedding and good job picking st.john for honeymoon. it's a beautiful and romantic island.
i'd skip the st. thomas activities altogether. it is only a 20 ride on the ferry but you only have a week & i think you'll find plenty to do on st. john.
if you do a day on st.t the tram is a quick ride with lovely view. shopping is lots of fun and duty free. take a drive/taxi to see magens bay beach. truly spectacular.
