Trip Report Two Thumbs Up for Sandals Grande St. Lucian!

Jump to last reply

We just returned from 7 glorious days at this resort. St. Lucia is a beautiful island, as is it’s people! We are very happy we chose Sandals Grande and would recommend this place if you are looking to stay at an all-inclusive. From the minute we arrived, until we left, we were very well taken care of. The staff at this resort couldn’t have been nicer and more than willing to please, to make sure you have everything you need and are enjoying yourself.

From what we saw as we traveled around the island and to other resorts (including the other two Sandals resorts (Regency & Halcyon)…the Grande, by far, was the nicest. There were many different pool areas, so depending on whether you are looking for lively atmosphere (main pool)…or peace & quiet …..there is definitely something for everyone.

We had a Honeymoon Grande Luxe Beachfront Room. Although these rooms aren’t directly on the beach..they are set back a bit so you have a view of the pools and the beach beyond. The room itself was nice, but pretty basic. A good size bathroom with marble double sink, tub/shower. The room has a 4-poster bed, flat screen TV, a sitting area and balcony. Room service comes in twice a day so the room was always tidy with fresh towels at all times.

As for restaurants…for the ones that require reservations – make them as soon as you get there because they book up fast!!!! It’s also nice that you can go to the restaurants at the other Sandals resorts..shuttle service runs every hour to Halcyon and Regency. Our two favorite restaurants were The Pier at Halcyon (no reservations required)…and La Toc at the Regency (reservtions required there and books up very quickly so if you know you want to go – make your reservation the day you arrive). We arrived on a Sunday and couldn’t get in until the following Friday, but it was worth the wait.

As for excursions…..go to the beach and look for Charlie (Exodus). His land/sea excursion is by far one of the best on the island. Takes you to Soufriere, Volcano/Mud Baths, Waterfall, Marigot Bay, Jalousie Plantation for snorkeling between the Pitons. The whole trip is 5 ½ hours and an excellent way to spend the day and see the sights. The rainforest is also a great excursion..whether you go to take the tram thru the canopy or to go zip lining. Also a must (IMO). Pidgeon Island National Park is just a walk down the road from the Grande. You can hike up to Fort Rodney (225 ft) and get an amazing view! Signal Hill is the higher of the two peaks at 330 ft and again, breathtaking views!!!!! The cost is only $5 US per person to enter the park.

All in all – it was a great vacation and highly recommend Sandals Grande to anyone planning a trip to St. Lucia!
