ive been researching for two weeks, booked the four seasons in nevis, and now am wondering about the beaches, ive read they are not the best and i need to re-think this, anyone have any suggestions for a beautiful up scale resort with nice beaches and "some" activities for teens, we did the kids camp thing when they were toddlers, they enjoy the beach, snorkling, etc. thought the four seasons would be good because they offer teen activites with luxury, but the beaches arent the best, is it impossible to "have it all", price is not a problem, thanks

What about the Hawaiian islands ? - or look at Grace Bay, Turks & Caicos. Don't know if you guys dive but that's a nice activity to look into on the islands! Happy hunting ..

We just returned from a week at fs nevis. Our 3 kids, ages 25, 22, and 16 were with us. They absolutely loved it. The beach was beautiful, not powdery sand but a lovely, large, long beach with great swimming. We had seen the remarks about the beach also but were totally happy with it. We've done alot of upscale vacations and this was one of our favorites. The kids snorkeled, took a scuba lesson, played tennis, golf, went waterskiing and wakeboarding.

There are plenty of places in all price ranges on Nevis besides the Four Season's to eat. Go to www.nevis1.com and click on restaurants. You'll find unbiased and accurate reviews of just about every restaurant on Nevis.

For fine dining try Montpelier Plantation, Mount Nevis Hotel, Nisbet Plantation or Old Manor. For more casual beachside dining try, Gallipot (they have great Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding for Sunday Brunch), Double Douce or Sunshines. Le Bistro (in the center of Charlestown) serves very good food at reasonable prices in a casual setting and Bananas is an excellent place to sip cocktails and watch the sunset while your dinner is being prepared. A lot of people like going to Miss June's - I personally think the food there is just OK but it's like going to a big dinner party at a friend's house and is a fun evening. Try having lunch at Martha's Tea House at the Botanical Gardens - the food is good, the setting pastoral and the views of Charlestown, Mt. Nevis and neighboring St. Kitts are spectacular. The list goes on and on.

Don't worry your teens won't get bored - there's plenty of things to do - day sails, diving trips, banana boat rides, kayaking, aqua cats, deep sea fishing, rain forest hikes (if they are really energetic perhaps they'd want to climb Mt. Nevis (be sure to use a guide for this trek), scores of old ruins to explore (some will remind you of a scene out of Raiders of the Lost Ark), miles of uncrowded beaches to roam (true they are not powdery white but rather a darkish golden brown), golf, etc.

Everyone, of course, likes different things, but I think you'll be happy in nevis. I spoke to my neighbor when we got back and found that they had also been to fs. Her kids are younger than mine and she says it's their favorite place they've ever been. I forgot to mention that they also have a big floating trampoline the kids can swim to. There were two sections of the beach, one much quieter than the other. Plenty of umbrellas and chairs and the resort was full but still seemed not at all crowded.
We had the meal plan at the hotel so didn't venture out much for food, but my understanding is also that there's lots of good choices. We were kind of divided on whether it was the best idea to do the meal plan. We found the food at the resort to be excellent, but when on the meal plan, we tend to overeat. Big meals when we really didn't need them. Good luck. You'll have a great time.

you guys are great, thanks for the info, cant help but worry a little with so much money invested into 11 days, suprisingly the kids are looking forward to this trip as well as my husband and i as we are celebrating our twenty fifth wedding anniversay. thanks again!

To further add to your confidence, I'll second the beach - we loved it! It wasn't pure white sand, but it's light-colored, and it's a very large beach, which is not at all crowded - it's quite wonderful!

Will also add, however, that we liked the beach at Oualie Beach Hotel even more - you could visit there for lunch & an afternoon as they also have a great chef in their restaurant now.
