looking for info on the current status of "starfish point". when we were on island you could drive right in, which we did often - most evenings for sunset. since then i've heard it's gated at the arch & is to be developed. any more recent info? does the developing appear to be going forward? is access still denied? can you walk in?

You can usually no longer drive out to the point, but the gate is sometimes open. My was just there and the gates were closed, barring cars. So what most folks do is park on the the empty lot to the left when facing the gate and walk out to the point; either down the road or along the beach.
The "Ivory Kai" development was stalled and the point property was purchased by an individual. I heard a marlroad rumor it was to be turned into a park, but who knows? My wife took a picture of a new sign that was erected at the point regarding the starfish and how to treat them since their numbers are declining do to being "over-loved". So maybe a park isn't such an outlandish rumor.
That was supposed to read "my better half was just there".
thanks so much for the update. a park would be so much nicer than any development! almost makes me glad for the recession. glad someone is looking out for the starfish too.
Crossing my fingers a public area or park comes to fruition, but a single nice home that doesn't harm the environs, with some kind of access to the point would be an acceptable accommodation.
agreed. especially if that eco-friendly single nice home could be mine
Get in line!
lol. i didn't mind the last house on the right before the arch either - can't recall it's name
Kai Rumba?
from the maps the one i like is across the street & 2 driveways down towards the arch. the entry is pretty much on the circle at the arch.
Then I think it is either KaiCoconut or the newer villa next door (who's name I do not know).
oh that's it. actually KaiConut. thanks for the memory refresher.
