Just wondering if anyone has stayed at this resort recently? What are your impressions ie. best part of the resort to stay in, anyone who was particularly helpful to you that we can request, best place to eat. Sorry I can't help you with Cayo Coco, as I haven't been there yet.
HOWEVER there is one thing you MUST BE AWARE OF when travelling to Cuba.
The Cuban Government has instituted a NEW TAX on arriving visitors to Cuba. They will weigh all of your luggage, INCLUDING ALL CARRY ON PIECES, PURSES, CAMERA BAGS ETC. and there is a NEW TAX of $ 25.00 per KILOGRAM for any weight in excess of 20 Kilograms (44 lbs). This is in ADDITION to any extra payment the airline might have charged you to carry the excess baggage down.
It would seem that the reason for this is so that you will not take any extra stuff to leave with Cuban locals. They want their Cuban citizens to have to buy (if they can afford it) their necessities through government stores so that they can make a profit from their citizens.
I think the Cuban Government will shortly find out that they are slowly KILLING
I haven't been to Tryp but am going in May 2003 so have done some research. There is a great sight to check out that has about 34 reviews on it from people who have been there and most of them say it is great. The web site is (with no spaces)

Have fun!
