Trying to make a decision about St John or St Thomas

Can anyone throw some light on this? How long is the flight from Antigua to St. Thomas? Does anyone have any info on the flight? Size of aircraft, what sort of aircraft?
Have seen that The Westin has a man made beach, does Caneel Bay Resort have a better beach. Does the St. Thomas Ritz Carlton beach compare?

Caneel's beaches are much, much nicer than than Westin's. Also better than the beach at the Ritz, although the Ritz is a very nice property with good service.

liat makes the flight in 2 hours. i think all flights stop on st. martin. liat uses DH8 turbo prop for this flight. you are on the ground in st. martin for abut 1/2 hr. there are flights that take longer due to time on grnd in st. martin.
caneel and ritz are very different resorts. ritz is ritzy - caneel is rustic luxury. ritz has one beach, gorgeous infinity pool, beach service, fancy spa, etc. caneel has 7 beautiful natural beaches, all with very good snorkeling, no pool, no spa (although you can get massage).
st. thomas has lots to do, loads of duty free shopping, many good dining options, is busy and sometimes may feel a bit crowded. st. john is very laid back. low key shopping and dining options.
it is very easy (25 min ferry ride) to go back and forth between the 2 islands. so if you like to be laid back but want to go over to st. thomas for one day of shopping and activity it will be easy.

Can't tell you specifics about the plane/flight between ANU and STT without knowing what airline you are flying. Most likely, however, you'll be flying in an ATR or a Dash 8 (2 engine turbo-porp planes holding between 30 and 60 passengers). If you can find a non-stop flight figure on about 50 to 75 minutes flight time.

Yes, Westin on St. John is a man-made beach. Cannel Bay has 7 very "natural" and very beautiful beaches on the property - all much better than the one at the Ritz Carlton on STT.

Just re-read your post and it seems you might have been asking on "how to get between ANU and STT" rather than asking about specific aircraft.

You have three basic choices:

Fly Liat (www.liatairline.com) which offers connecting flights through SXM. Depending on dates of travel and time of day the overall travel time will be between 2 hours and 6 hours. Liat flys Dash-8 Turbo props.

Your other option is to fly American Eagle (www.aa.com) to SJU and connect to another American Eagle Flight or a Cape Air Flight. American Eagle flies ATRr's (64 passenger turbo-props) and Cape Air flies small 2 engine planes that hold 6 to 8 passengers (sorry don't know make of plane). As above, overall trip time varies from about 3 1/2 hours to 14 hours.
