No...I'm not shouting. I just copied and pasted from the NHC e-mail. Couldn't bother to retype in lower case
Statia and all you Northern Leeward islanders, stay safe.
Yes, Chris is in my backyard and will be directly impacting us tonight. Gotta batten down when I get home this evening.
At least it's not a hurricane.....yet.
...and here I was praying that August and September would be like June and July! Hurricane free!
As you said, Statia...it's not a hurricane. Hopefully Chris will change his mind about this Caribbean trip!
Best of luck tonight, Statia.
All of us Fodorites will be thinking of you!
Positive thoughts and prayers are coming your way from me too Statia !
Take care !
Marion
Awww..thanks y'all.
I'll try to post tomorrow as soon as I can...if I have power that is.

I am trying to get out of the office so that I can take care of things at home, but I have to get updates out about all my ships shutting down and anchoring for the storm. They've even ceased all local flights already because the WinAir planes have to get back to the hangers at SXM.
I hope it's not a a long one, but the last update said it's strengthening. At least it's just a TS, though.
I have no idea how that link got in there. Strange.
Thinking of you Statia! Hope all remains well...keep us posted.
This is no big deal..
Yes strong winds... and alot ofd rain.
No worry
Good luck to all.
Chris is a small storm right now but could strengthen to a Category 2 hurricane. Take cover, Bahamas! Look out, Gulf Coast states.
No issue for PR either. The sky is clouded right now, it is very humid and hot. No wind (or breeze )whatsoever.
marigross, glad to hear that you are not having any ill effects in PR. It passed just east of us here so we only had a little wind and rain. Now I just hope the rest of the season pans out so well in our area.

And, I also hope this one doesn't strengthen too much more and head to the US.
Here's a picture from my deck about45 minutes ago. Just rain but hope the Bahamas & Fla. don't get hit too bad.

Nice shot, Carrybean! Don't you just love those creepy looking skies once in awhile?
Just as long as you know the weather won't get too bad, that is.
I showed your pic to my DH and we both noted that we had the same sort of sky earlier. Strange considering we are quite a bit farther south.
carrybean
You may have posted it before, but what island do you live on? At least I think you live in the Caribbean. Great picture. Sky looks ominous. I glad that things are not too bad there for all.
brenda: I believe he is on STT.
Thanks Brett, that is what I was thinking too from the depths of my cranium. Hope all is well with the girls. Would LOVE to see more pics if you have time to send my way. Have one of all of you together?
carrybean - what a picture!
Stay safe! Fingers crossed for you and Statia for the rest of the season
I'm a she & on St. Thomas.
From the latest email it's weakening so if that continues (I hope) nobody will have any more to deal with than just a little wind & rain.
Statia, glad it wasn't bad on your little island either.
Great shot Carrybean! This morning PR is getting rain but not nearly close to what had been expected
Another near miss...
Let's just hope it's the same for the rest of the summer, Marigross.
carrybean, that was an awesome picture. I hope everyone stays safe!
marigross, the satellite image looks like you are getting a ton of rain. It's quite strange how most of the weather seems to be completely on the south side of the storm.
Thankfully Chris has been a good boy.
Three days into August and no other storm is a brewin'.
Hopefully it stays that way for the rest of the month!
JAGIRL: Ditto your hopes and prayers that this season stays reasonable. Our house was built by a German craftsman who swears it can withstand a level 5 hurricane, but who ever wants to find out?!! This is the time of year when I am constantly watching www.stormcarib.com and calling my neighbors on island when things look bad. It's the time of year I feel like a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Let's all keep our fingers crossed!
Tuxedocat, his name isn't Fedderson by any chancce, is it?
