I wanted to write up a quick trip review. We spent 7 nights in Turks and Cacios. We stayed at the Ocean Club West. Sadly, it rained everyday we there there. Thankfully it wasn't all day everyday but it was a good chuck of our trip. Apparently this is very rare.
While I didn't like TCI enough to want to go back I will say that it was the softest sand I have ever walked on. When the sun was out, the water was amazing. We didn't do much during our week. We just wanted to relax.
We didn't rent a car, we walked to dinner.
Our favorites were Cocoa Bistro and Coyaba.
We are at Coyaba twice. They have the most amazing gorgonzola noche. Sooo yummy. At Cocoa Bistro I got the rib eye and MDH got the salmon. Both were amazing! Maybe the best entrees we had while we were there. A couple times we ordered two appetizers with one entre and it would still be over 100 bucks... that is with no dessert or drinks. I knew the island would due expensive but it was even more expensive than I had imagined.
We were disappointed in Mango reef... everyone recommends it but I don't see why.
We went to Hemmingway's for lunch. I got the fish tacos. they were ok but the drinks are what are so great about that place, in my opinion... they were nice and strong.
We did go to the casino twice, since it was raining so much. They will come and get you for free and take you home. It was a good way to spend a rainy day.
Overall my biggest complaint was that the people were not friendly at all. We kept getting horrible service. I guess since most places include 10% gratuity to the bill they assume they don't have to be friendly.
We used the bikes to go town to the IGA to get some groceries. It was a fun way to get there and I appreciate that the OCW lets you use them for free.
I also liked that the OCW has a book library with a take one, leave on policy. I read 4 and a half books during our week. I loved reading on the big screened in patio while it rained.
We rented a suite with full kitchen and washer and dryer from VRBO... it was ok but I don't think I would do it again. I liked having the little extras but the room smelled. Luckily the owner had a few candles laying around that helped. We wished we would have done an all inclusive.
My husband and I LOVED all the little lizards on the island... we saw them everywhere.
We walked all the way down to Coral Reef to snorkel... it was a long walk... wouldn't want to do that twice but still glad we went.
It was nice to try a new Island but my heart still belongs to Hawaii.

Sorry to hear you would not return..perhaps if the weather was better and you saw more of the Island you would feel different! It also depends where you stay ( smelly condo-that is enough to turn anyone off) We love the Somerset and will return in July. Sorry about Mango Reef too...we have had great Lobster items there that we loved...too bad ! I guess TCI is not for everyone!
