We're planning a trip to San Juan for Tres Reyes Day on January 6th. Has anyone ever taken their kids to La Fortaleza for gift giving. Are there any other events for kids on that day that you would recommend?

In order to get a present in la Fortaleza you need to get in line at 5:00 AM with a lot of people which will mostly be on the low income range. They make a day trip out of this. By 10:00 AM there are probably a 500 persons still waiting to go in people are fainting from heat stroke.
There will be a ton of activities all over the old town, pick up a newspaper or ask the hotel concierge and they should be able to direct you.
Keep in mind that many restaurants will be closed on Three Kings Eve as well as the day itself so plan accordingly.
