Traveling with 15, 13, & 10 year old kids to Jamaica...need advice
We are planning a trip to Jamaica with our three kids, ages 15, 13, 11. We want to stay in an AI resort simply for the convenience. We have never been to the Caribbean. With only 4 nights and 3 full days we assumed we would just stay at the resort and enjoy all that it has to offer...relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, scuba diving maybe, water slides, etc. I can't decide between Beaches Ochos Rios and Beaches Negril. If you have an opinion on these two options, please comment. This is a family trip...not a romantic getaway.

Actually that is relative to who is travelling and your main interests. Negril and ocho rios are a tad diff but still very similar. Both offer exciting watersports. Ocho give a more authentic mix of locals and party life all yr round. Negril is all about tourism. Contact me for more info

Sorry, but I disagree. I think Negril and Ocho are not similar at all. I've been to both many times, and the beach in Ocho doesn't compare well to the one in Negril.
As far as tourism goes, Ocho is a big cruise ship stop. So you can't really say it's less touristy than Negril.

Thanks so much for all the replies! I had already booked Ocho when I discovered I should have booked Negril. I asked for advice thinking i would just leave the reservation as is. Sadly, I really want to change to Negril and can only do so by paying an extra $1000. Not willing to do that. I will keep trying but may be forced to stick with the original reservation. With only three full days at the resort I'm sure my family will have a blast regardless. Luckily they won't have anything to compare this trip to. This is our first trip to the Caribbean. I hope we'll have many more!!
