It would be possible to get around Cuba at 16 but you will have to ask the consulate in your country if they will allow a kid into thier country solo.
I think it might be a bit of a brash move, particulalrly if you don't speak Spanish and if you are not well travelled.
Hi Blass:
It is possible, but could be a bit brash to go entirely alone as the previous poster has noted.
However, I believe that the best option would be to look for a student exchange program where you would live with a local Cuban family, hopefully with a son/daughter student near your own age. Contact the Cuban consulate/embassy in your own country to see what programs might be available. As an alternative, contact the Cuban Education Department in Havana to see what is available. You can probably find this info on the Cuban Government website.
I travelled at a young age and spent a semester studying in a foreign country and the experience is one I will always cherish. I stayed in the University residence in my host country. While language might be a problem, you still have a few months to find and take a Spanish language course to learn the basics.
Good luck and I wish you success.
