Travel to Cuba from US for Spanish citizens
I have been asked by my Spanish friends to look into the possibility of their flying direct from South Florida to Cuba while they visit me this August. Can someone give me some guidance? I can't keep up with the recent changes, and I especially don't know how things work for non-US citizens. Thanks in advance.

If they're visiting in August, they won't be able to fly directly from Florida to Cuba. Scheduled flights on U.S. airlines will begin this fall. Until then, all USA-Cuba flights are charters, and those are not open to non-U.S. citizens. Your friends' only choice in August would be to fly via a third country (Mexico, Canada, Bahamas).

but once they get there, they face no restrictions at all, other than those faced by all non-US travellers to Cuba; "people to people" tours only apply to americans. [the restrictions are US not Cuban imposed]

That's true, annhig, but that wasn't the question. Non-U.S. citizens are not eligible for the USA-Cuba charter flights and, until fall, they are the only direct air transportation between the two countries. If the Spanish friends are visiting in August, they have to connect in a third country.

well as the OP said that s/he didn't know how it worked for non-US citizens I thought it was worth saying.
I wasn't contradicting you, just adding a bit more information. Isn't that what these forums are for?
