Transportation to Exuma

From East Coast US - any hints to economize on cost of flights. Roundtrip DC area in February seems to be $575-700. Found possible to shave a bit off that by flying to Nassau and then taking Bahamasair on a separate ticket NAS-GGT (Georgetown). But still expensive. (And I know this is an expensive destination - asking for daughter who is reluctantly going on boyfriend's family trip and she needs to economize as much as possible - except by not going which is not an option)

Gail, I can't help with Exuma, but for the fun of it, I just priced flights to St. Kitts for next March from Boston and they were about $1000, $200 more than last year. Not good.

I don't know if Jet Blue is an alternative but worth checking. (And shouldn't boyfriend's family help out here, if she's expected to go?)

That sounds right for air. But be warned where in Exuma? If Great Exuma then fine, if Staniel Cay it will cost a lot more to get from Georgetown to Staniel Cay (additional flight or even more expensive boat ride)

Is she also paying for the hotel? If yes then she can go thru Majestic Travel part of the Bahamas Tourism) sometimes they offer free flights from nassau to exumas when booking a 7 night package

If she's only paying airfare, then she should be grateful and pay the going rate, which $600 plus sounds reasonable for average. Maybe get extra hours at work?

Flying anywhere these days, especially Caribbean had gotten costly. Bahamas Air thru Nassau is probably cheapest (is she going to fly separately from the rest to save money? It will cost more indifference for taxi from airport to meet up.

Where are they staying?

PS. While I'm not Dr Phil, if she's "reluctantly" going and already complaining about spending money on air, she should really stay home
