Transportation to BVI - please help!
All-
I know there is a lot of info. out there on this, but for some reason -- I am so confused!
My husband and I would love to go to BVI - Virgin Gorda at the end of Feb. We have found a flight to STT...and would like to take a ferry to Virgin Gorda.
Could someone please point me in the right direction??? We would arrive in STT at 4pm on Sunday. Need to return to STT for a 5:15pm flight on Friday.
Also - any idea how long the trip is from St. John to VG? And average price of roundtrip ticket??
ANY help is appreciated. THANK YOU!

You might want to visit the BVI forum at www.traveltalkonline.com
There are lots of BVI experts there and if you search the archives you'll finds hundreds of post on this very topic. It's seems as it is discussed there every week or two.

We just stayed at the villa Caribbean Wind on Mahoe Bay in VG this past Memorial Day week. I highly recommend it. Getting there is tricky however. Coming from Philadelphia, we flew into Puerto Rico and then took a small (8 seater) prop plane on Air Sunshine (the only airline that flies into VG, beside private chartered flights) into VG. You land on a dirt runway, which actually was surprisingly smooth. However, I HIGHLY advise you NOT to take Air Sunshine, or "Air Sometimes" as the locals called it. They will rip you off every chance they get and they were not friendly at all. It was pretty much a nightmare dealing with them. We had 2 babies with us and they wouldn't let us get on our connecting flight because they said there wasn't enough time, however they were fine with our itinerary when we booked the flight. So they charged each of us on the trip and additional $50 per person, and we had to wait about 4 hours in San Juan. No fun. We spoke with a family that was on our plane from PHL to San Juan that actually ended up at the villa next door to us in VG that had taken the ferry to VG and that seemed like the much better route to go. They actually arrived to VG right after we did-and they took the ferry! So I just wanted to give you a heads up to take the ferry there rather than Air Sunshine. It will be well worth it. Good luck!
Ps-couple things to do while there-
Eat at the dog and dolphin - it's remote and really nice atmosphere
Check out the baths-but important! Go first thing in the morning. By 10 am the beach will be packed with tourists from the other islands coming in
Go to Leverick Bay for the beach bbq-it's a good time
We loved Mahoe bay if you're still looking for somewhere to stay

You can take a ferry from Red Hook on STT to Virgin Gorda.

It looks like the last ferry is at 3pm and takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Based on the times you indicate, you will likely need to spend one night on STT on your arrival day and take the first morning ferry the next day to VG.
Sounds better than "Air Sometimes"...

If you look at the ferry schedule link posted, it seems as if you have a bit of a dilemma. The ferrys from STT to VG only run on Tues, Thurs, and Sun, which doesn't jive well at all with your flight times. I really concur with A_Traveller. Try posting on the TTOL BVI forum. If anyone can help you come up with something, they are your best bet. Lots of experts on that board. I think the easiest way to get to VG would have been to fly into Beef Island (Tortola). You can also stay on Tortola or even St John and day trip to VG.
