Hi,
I'm going to the St Regis on Sunday Dec 11th for 3 nights on award travel. I booked the Howard Johnson just to stay the Saturday night I arrive in PR (around 10 pm).
I'm looking for suggestions on how to get from Isla Verde to the St Regis resort the next day, Sunday. I'm wondering about a cab, vs. making reservations with a car service before hand, or if there is a cheaper alternative, or possilby public transportation. I don't know how much a cab would be.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Tim

Why don't you call the resort and ask? Everyone is going to be flying into San Juan, so the resort probably can arrange for either a car service or taxi and can tell you the approximate cost. Then you can decide. It's over 20 miles to the resort from San Juan, so this is not going to be a cheaper trip regardless. I bet it will cost around $100 or even a tad more. This may be a time when it is more cost-effective to just rent a car and drive yourself (but ask about parking charges, which most Puerto Rico resorts have).
Sometimes, however, if there is an on-site car-rental agency you can park for free if you have rented from that agency. And you might even be able to do a one-way car rental without a drop-off fee if there's an on-site agency at the resort.
If you go to the resort's web site, there are several TABS to click on. Under LOCATION is a link to "Transportation" and explains your options.
