We're thinking of using Amtrak from the New Haven area to get to the Newark airport for non-stop flights to St. Thomas, then the ferry to Tortola. Does anyone have any experience with this? There's a link on Continental, I think you can get the flight and train together, just wondered if anyone has had success with it!
Tortola in Dec.

I may be too late with my answer, but I have done this many times. It's terrific and a great way to arrive in the BVI. The views from the top deck are gorgeous. The only problem is, on the ferry trip back to St. Thomas, you must first stop in St. John to check in with U.S. Customs and Immigration. You have to get off the ferry, get your luggage, so it can be screened, Altogether an unpleasant experience, made more so by the unfriendly U.S. Customs officials.
