TOM BEACH HOTEL - FEEDBACK

We're planning a special celebration in St. Barths the last week in November. If anyone has been there in the last year, I'd appreciate any feeback you can give me. We are interested in the Superior Garden View Room. I would like feedback on this type of room, it's location (to beach and street), if near street, any noise?, quality of food, continental breakfast delivered to room? And, anything else you can think of.

Thanks.

Karen

Karen,

Go to www.sbhonline.com and do a search. I'm pretty sure someone on that forum has been there recently. I know someone that will be going soon from that forum at any rate, Beantown where are ya!

Hi Karen.

I did go to this website (at your recommendation in other's questions). It's a great one. I did post my question, there, too. But, haven't heard back, I don't think (I say that because I'm not sure how to maneuver around that forum).

Karen, Beantown on this website also posts on sbhonline and we had a lengthy conversation about Tom Beach Hotel. He will be there the end of April and is staying there. We'll be there the same time but are staying at the Christopher, so at minimum, we'll stop by and find out what we can about the place. Beantown posts under a different nick on the St. Barts forum, jdr is his nick there.

To do a search, you'll find the search heading at the top of the discussion forum page along with "lists of forums, search, my home, who's online," etc. You could also put "beantown" in Fodor's search and you'll come up with our discussion here before it went over to the St. Barts forum. I just tried a search and the search function isn't working, I'll let Kara know and she will figure out what's wrong. Maybe try tomorrow sometime.

Karen M.

Thank you for getting back to me and providing me with such great info. May I communicate (email) directly with you re: Hotel Tom Beach? I don't know how to do that from Fodor's forum.

Tom Beach is OK, good location right on St. Jean beach & walking distance to restaurants including LaPlage, their own. The only problem is that particular area can be noisy since it's very close to the road, and SB is long way to come to view just a garden when there are places with gorgeous ones of the OCEAN right from your balcony or terrace. You may consider other areas such as Flamands (our favorite), Vitet, or Pt.Milou.

Karen,

My email address is Pedantic38@hotmaildotcom

I think Caribcouple is right about the noise factor. Normally I would want to stay on the beach on any other island but if you saw the views, I think you would agree that ... first of all you will miss all the georgous scenery down so close to the water and second you'll want to explore other beaches anyway. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

This is where we are staying in April:

Have you considered renting a villa? That time of year you can rent a big house with 3 bedrooms for the cost of 1 bedroom with it's own private pool and many times with a jacuzzi. There are many villas around the $2,000 price range for 7 days. Here's an example:

Anyway, just an idea. Email me if you need any more help. If you have never been to St. Barts, you are in for a treat.

Karen and Karen.
M is right about private villas. SB is unique in that regard, 1/2 the guest rooms on this beautiful Island are in them, and can be a much better value. We rent on the Flamands hillside @ Flamands Blue www.stbartsvilla.com that has WOW views and unlike Pt.Milou Vitet, Marigot, or Toiny, a gorgeous beach within walking distance. Lots of others are listed on the SBH & other websites. Villa life, however, is not for everyone. Typicaly more room and privacy than a hotel, but you must schelp yourself up to the French bakery in the morning for a fresh baguette and crossiant with your morning coffee.
