Tobago Itinerary: 9 nights at the Beginning of January

Hi everybody,

I've already bought my plane ticket to Tobago! I'll be visiting the island at the beginning of January. I have 9 nights and this is what I've thought in terms of splitting my time:

3 nights, Castara
3 nights, Charlotteville
3 nights, Crown Point

I'm mostly interested in resting, relaxing on the beach, strolling and trying tipical food. I have one question, though. Is Castara a good place to base to visit Englishman's Bay? I know that I could base in just one place and rent a car to visit the rest of the island, but I can't drive. I'm planning on taking taxis between locations.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Tobago is a beautiful island with a fabulous national park if you're interested in that sort of thing. There is, of course, the world famous Buccoo Reef/Nylon Pool for outstanding snorkeling. Get advice from each of your accommodations re tour/taxi driver, where is safe, etc - like everywhere else, Tobago has crime too.
You can find info on Tobago, what to do, where to go, attractions, restaurants, etc here:

I have never been as relaxed in my life as I was after a week in Tobago. Pigeon Point park is a dream, and is only a mile or two from Crown Point - pick up a roti, rent a beach chair for the day, and relax on one of the most perfect beaches you have ever seen.

Make sure that you arrange your time so that you are near Buccoo on Sunday for "Sunday School."

I can't be much help with the Castara part, but I remember all of those beaches being a bit isolated with very little in terms of "town," so I'm not sure about basing in the area.

As for the north end, I personally prefer Speyside to Charlotteville - a little bigger town and the diving is incredible. Next trip to Tobago I would probably split my time evenly between basing in Speyside and Crown Point.

Thanks, guys...

However, I couldn't travel in 2009 as I originally planned it... I am going this coming Easter (I already have my tickets and hotel booked)!

I'm looking forward to it!
