I've looked up some past threads on Tobago & seen the reviews on Blue Waters Inn, Kariwak and Footprints.
I love to go off the beaten path but decor counts for a lot, does anyone know of any smaller, boutique hotels? Don't like AI resorts at all. I love the look of all the Island Outpost hotels in Jamaica, for instance. Eclectic, colorful, funky.
Any other suggestions? Tobago sounds like a wonderful destination and I'd love to check it out.
Thanks in advance!!

Check out Plantation Beach Villas. It is a small hillside complex of 6 villas nicely shaded/protected by natural landscaping that leads down to a quiet beach.
The villas are identical inside. They are bright and airy. Each villa has its own housekeeper/cook. There is a small bar and pool beside the beach that belongs to the complex. It is very private even though the Grafton Beach Resort is next door.
We stayed there each of the last two years and had a wonderful time. I have been to Tobago several times since the late eighties and this is by far my favorite place.
It's quiet, beautiful, and private, while retaining a local kind of charm.

Hi, all those hotels you mentioned are charming and unique in their own way. Blue Waters Inn is in Speyside, which is more countryside and close to Little Tobago Island and a reef that is popular with divers.
Blue Waters Inn is beautiful, the decoris very tropical and it is situated on the beach.
Kariwak is near to the Airport and Crown Point which is the most developed part of the Islands in terms of tourism, it is also close to Store Bay and Pigeon Point, two of Tobago's best beaches. The hotel consists of little Huts in a Garden atmosphere, lots of plants and the restaurant is very good.
I also like Toucan Inn, which is close to Kariwak, and it's all teak huts with a very good restaurant called Bonkers. Also Inn on The Bay is a new hotel.
