You can do a Tobago Cays trip a couple of ways. If you stay on any one of the Grenadines (Bequia, Canouan, Mayreau, Mustique,PSV or Palm Island) there are several operators who do day sails. If you are staying in Barbados or St. Lucia, there are also day trips offered. The resorts on the neighbouring islands tend to be exclusive or simple.

If you visit St. Vincent and the Grenadines without visiting Tobago Cays you have missed one of the best sites SVG has to offer. There is only one drawback, as SVG continues to be come more than a blip on the destination screen there has been an enourmous increase in travelers visiting. If you are lucky enough to go on a day wiith less daytrippers from the large cruise ships you will enjoy it even more. Last year I visited and one of the Star Clippers descended upon the Cays. The crowd being so large and the water toys brought along for the passengers enjoyment tend to cloud the water, crowd the beach and unfortunately they are not always careful to do a complete clean up after their visit. SVG has recently instituted what is easiest to describe as an "admission" charge.
If you want to visit the Cays my suggestion would be to stay on one of the other islands and sign up for a daytrip with one of the local operators. Windjammer's Yankee Clipper visits on a fairly regular basis as part of the itinerary. They used to visit every trip but now with so many larger ships making their way, as beautiful as the spot is, it is not quite the pleasant experience it once was now that so many crowd the beach. I'm thankful I had the opportunity to visit before it became "the in spot"
