Has anyone out there been to Grenada recently? Where did you stay? Did you dive? Any particularly good/bad experiences? How was the food? Any info would be great!

My wife and I spent ten days on Grenada
and Carriacou in November and had a great time (despite Hurricane Lenny's
appearance on the last few days). We
stayed at the La Sagesse Nature Center
the first few days. It's on a beautiful
cove out by itself on the south side of
the island. An American runs the place and is quite knowledgable about the island and tries really hard to make sure that everyone is satisfied. We spent the next three days on Carriacou at the Silver Beach Inn. It was right on the beach--a little rough on the edges, but seemed to be the best place to stay on the island. We then returned to Grenada and spent the last part of the trip at the Grand View Inn. The view from our balcony was breathtaking-- it was about a 10-15 minute hike to the beach but the rates were about a third of those hotels directly on the beach.
The food was quite good. Much seafood to be had. Lambi (conch) was prepared
in many different ways. Be sure to try the callaloo. It is a local leafy plant
that resembles spinach when it is cooked. They add many spices to it and
it is really delicious.

Melissa,
there's very recent info to be found on www.antilia.com (maps, lots of background info, rotating panoramas & virtual tours).
We did some diving with Spice Island Diving and think it's one of the best shops in the world: first class boat, brand new equipment, good staff (we dive all over the world and have met some crazy things).
Have fun,
Peter
We spent 16 days on Grenada over last Christmas and New Years. We stayed in a charming one bedroom apt at the Mariposa. Our room had an incredible, unobstructed view of the Morne Rouge beach/bay. But the management was very sloppy and the bar down the street was very loud so we're wondering if we should give up the view for a little bit more serenity and comfort at 12 Degrees North when we return.
We found that the food was wonderful if you are not the meat and potatoes type. Avoid hotel restaurants which cost at least twice as much for less quality and also avoid the more upscale establishments which are very popular among tourists but do not any better food. Our two favorite restaurants were Coconut Beach and Le Chateau.
