I have decided on the Sands and am pretty sure of getting a one bedroom ocean view instead of an ocean front suite. If I wanted to have my bed in the living area I would go to a hotel. Does anyone have suggestions on which building would have the best view etc. and what floor would be best. Also, any other info about The Sands I should know would be appreciated. Thanks alot.
The Sands-what type of room?

Hi Cindy,
Just returned from the Sands yesterday. We stayed in a 1BR ocean view in building 3 on the 3rd floor. I thought it was pretty nice. It seemed the third floor (top) was good because directly below was a small parking lot. Being high up, we barely noticed it unless we stood right up at the end of the balcony.
The hotel was quite nice. The beach was fabulous, although they could have used a few more shade huts or umbrellas--sometimes there were no shade huts left--and you pretty much need one.
Also, bring a cooler--if you want a cold drink on the beach as the beach service pretty sparce (not to mention you can save some cash).
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Is there anyplace in Provo where you can rent an umbrella?
Hi Jb7777,
My Boyfriend and I just booked the Sands for December.
We got an Ocean Front Suite.. and are wondering is it really facing the beach completely? And since you mentioned service being sparce and the location being isolated.. do you feel this takes away from the resort itself? Any suggestions that we should request upon arrival? Are the rooms and property clean and kept up as it appears on the website?
Thank you for your help
Does the Sands have elevators or is it climb the stairs with luggage, etc.? The pictures make the buildings looks quite a ways back from the beach.
Some clarification is required here for Coffey1027 and karenM:
The resort is not isolated or remote - it is about a 5 minute walk from the nearest resort (Sibbone) and about a 20 minute walk from The Ports of Call shoppping area - but it is in a quiet not excessively developed part of the beach. Service is available at the bar (not sure of hours) but if you prefer not to make the 1 minute walk to the bar a cooler would be a good idea to store drinks on the beach (and definitely more economical). The buildings are not far from the ocean (the furthest away would be about a 1-2 minute walk). The website virtual tour is a little misleading about distances ( I assume because of the panorama shots) - it makes distances seem a LOT greater than they are. The home page signature picture on the website is a much more accurate representation of distances.
re:jmm i may be confused here but the site says sands is 2 mins from the golf course. if accurate that would be well more than 5 mins from Sibbone walking. i recall the golf course being way up by club med. not to misunderstand this is a very short island to start with but... you will love it. Grace Bay Beach is fabulous no matter which part you are on
Okay, now I am confused. I thought The Sands is located on the beach area between Allegro and Beaches...Not anywhere near Club Med.
Can someone please clarify? If The Sands is near Club Med, I will be changing back to Ocean Club West.
I think JMM is right though. I think I am going to post a new thread about this because I will be mighty disappointed if Sands is near Club Med and I need to know!
Denise
Love2Travel, My husband and I stayed at The Sands for our Honeymoon June 2002. You are correct. The Sands is located between Allegro and Beaches. It is about a 20-25 minute walk to Allegro and 20-25 minute walk to Beaches (on the beach). Club Med is past the Allegro. The Sands is a great place on a GREAT beach.
Thanks, KellyD!!
