The Reef Resort in June

I am planning a trip to The Reef on Grand Cayman in June. Has anyone stayed there? What is the snorkeling like? Any helpful information would be appreciated.

hi jazz, welcome to fodors.
snorkeling from reef beach is pretty good. they feed fish off the end of their pier every day.
as soon as you get there sign up for the reef guests only tour to stingray city.
if you plan to do some cooking you may want to shop in georgetown before you head to the reef as it a 45min drive back to town. there is a small grocery just across the street from the reef.
assume you plan to rent a car. drive to rum point at least once. fairly good snorkeling. fun beach bar/food, couple shops & red sail sports. also a wonderful dinner only restaurant. if you eat there reserve a table at sunset.
on the way to rum pt you'll pass a divey looking place on the beach side called over the edge. it's great!!
you might want to go to the botanical gardens. gorgeous plants plus blue iguanas & cayman green parrots.

Thanks for the helpful information. I have heard that the current can be stong at The Reef and the weather windy. Did you find that a problem?

if you were to swim out to the reef (real reef not the hotel) i'm sure you'd find a good current. near the beach should be no problem. we spent 3 weeks on island. a few days were quite windy, most were not. a lot depends on what month you're there. june should be fairly calm.
