The Beach House/Barbuda or Ladera/St. Lucia?
Looking for a 4-5 day escape in April. Anyone familiar with these properties? I also found great packages for both hotels on LuxuryLink.com - anyone have experience booking through this site? Any info would be appreciated - many thanks!

Can't help you much with the accommodations, though I did have dinner at Dasheen (Ladera's restaurant) and thought the food, atmosphere, and sunset view were all great.
I have worked with Luxurylink, however, and can recommend them. I've successfully bid on two packages there and everything worked out smoothly--everything that was promised was delivered once I got to the resorts. All I can say is do your homework--figure out what the highest price you want to bid is, and don't go over it. IF you miss a package this week, chances are another similar or identical package will be offered again in a few days. Also pay attention to when the package is offered, then call the hotel directly and ask about their generali availability during that time--tell them that you're thinking about bidding on a package and you need to know availability before bidding. In my experience they are very accommodating with these kinds of questions.
If you're a bona fide beach person, you may prefer the Beach House. If you're more interesting in exploring the many natural beauties St. Lucia has to offer, Ladera is the better bet. St. Lucia is a much prettier island, but the beaches are darker sand with lusher foliage here, more cove-like than stretching on for miles. Barbuda is rather flat and arid, but the white and pink sand beach there is supposed to go on for miles and miles.

Thanks! I'm actually not bidding on a package, but found a 'best buy' priced package. I called The Beach House and was quoted a rate and the LL.com package is cheaper. And I do know the hotel has availability over my dates. Hmmm....so....what's wrong with this picture. My lack of experience with LL.com makes me a skeptic.

No need to be a skeptic. Luxury Link has a great rep. I've used it twice and both times I had wonderful vacations with all the promised amenities if not more. If you can get a better rate on luxury link than through the hotel, book it! We got a deal through Luxury Link for Parrot Cay in Turks & Caicos that was less than half the rack rate (that was through an auction though) and there was no catch.

I don't know how the travel time is to Barbuda, but St Lucia is a long day from almost anywhere in the US. You will pretty much "lose" two says to travel. Don't think 4-5 days would be long enough for St Lucia.
